Parenting Plans
A Parenting Plan is a detailed legal document that aims to outline every aspect of joint parenting in order to reduce confict and disagreements. It involves conduct for behaviours, regular scheduling, holiday and vacation scheduling, and dispute resolution processes for major and minor decision-making.
A detailed parenting plan will specify things that may not have been included in a separation agreement, but that can be major sources of conflict, such as drop-offs and pick-ups, choosing extracurricular activities, who takes the children to the dentist. By addressing these details, each parent will have a clear document to refer to whenever there is a dispute.
A parenting plan is usually developed through mediation or mediation/arbitration.
